Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Third on the CHI tight end depth chart, behind both Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet, and it shows up exactly where you would expect. Five targets in five weeks, 3 catches, 33 yards, 1.3 points a game. That is not a slow burn, that is a rookie a play-caller has chosen not to involve, and Ben Johnson calls the plays himself.
The context only firms it up. In 2025, Rome Odunze and Colston Loveland took 24% and 17% of the targets, 40% between them, and there is no sign a third tight end cracks that. CHI threw on 53% of situation-neutral plays last season, so the passes exist in this offense, they are simply not reaching him. He is 23, this is his first year, and Chicago spent the 69th pick on him in the spring, which makes the silence around him a choice and not a project still finding its footing. Our preseason number of 55 points already assumed a season spent waiting, built on 12 expected games at 4.6 a game, and he is running well under that. There is no injury angle to hide behind either, no designation since before week 1 of 2026. He has been healthy and still produced nothing, and through five weeks of 2026 he has not scored once.
For a roster midseason, there is no week ahead where this adds up. His bye in week 10 of 2026 is still coming, and no stretch of the schedule changes the pecking order. We would cut him and use the spot on a tight end actually seeing targets, and revisit only if an injury to Loveland or Kmet hands him a full-time role. Until something breaks in that room, the 1.3 is what he is.
