Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
A third-round pick with 1 target through five weeks of 2026 is not a player, it is a name on a roster. Delp did not play in week 1 of 2026, then logged three straight zeroes in weeks 3 through 5 of 2026. That is the entire case right now, and it is bad.
The role is the problem, not the talent. He is listed third among NO tight ends behind Juwan Johnson and Noah Fant, and Johnson pulled 18% of the targets on this team a year ago while Chris Olave took 29%, so the men ahead of him already own this passing game. Kellen Moore and Doug Nussmeier are back calling the same offense, so there is no reason to expect a new shape. NO passed on 55% of situation-neutral plays in 2025 and worked at 30.6 seconds a play, and none of that volume has found him yet. Our preseason number was 52 points over 12 games, about 4.3 a game, and he is not close to that pace.
The real downside is that injuries drag this range down to a bottom near 19 points, and his usage makes the low end likelier than the high one. There is no injury designation since before week 2 of 2026, so he is healthy and still buried. He is 23.1 on opening day, a rookie in his first season, and his bye is still to come in week 8 of 2026.
Drop him for a running back with a pulse, and check back next year.
