Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
The points have gone missing while the targets stayed. Through five weeks of 2026 he is at 9.5 a game, and only week 3 of 2026, that 19.4, cleared what we expected of him weekly. The hands are fine, 15 catches on 18 targets with zero drops, but the passing game is not throwing him deep, a 10.0-yard average depth of target that ranks 59th among 85 receivers with at least 15 targets. That is a profile built for 8-point weeks unless the touchdowns keep coming, and two of them in five games is roughly holding serve, not lifting him.
Why we still have him ahead of where drafters took him at 89.5 is the share of targets. His 22.9% sits in a band where players in his spot added 3.5 points a game the next season on average, and it barely moved from 2025, when he took 23% of Jacksonville's targets to Brian Thomas Jr.'s 19%. He played 84.8% of snaps, WR21 among 239, so none of this requires climbing the depth chart, where he sits third behind Thomas and Parker Washington.
What holds him down is the crowded room, which has cost comparable receivers 0.9 points a game on average from one season to the next, and his own slide from 14.4 points a game in 2024 to 11.0 in 2025 that five weeks have not reversed. Our preseason number was 161 points, and the bye in week 7 of 2026 gives him a week to reset before we need to see it. Hold him, start him in three-receiver leagues, and look for another week near the week 3 of 2026 number before trusting him in tighter lineups.
