Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Rookies taken on day three usually need an injury ahead of them to matter, and nothing has changed that math in New Orleans. So for anyone running a roster right now, there is no case to start him and no reason to pick him up. He sits third behind Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele, and the box score agrees with the seat: 2.1 points a game through week 5 of 2026, with 0 points in weeks 3 and 5, and 16 targets, 5 catches and 57 yards on the season with no scores.
There is one thing to like. His 15.0-yard average depth of target ranks WR14 among 85 receivers with at least 15 targets, and he has dropped none of his 16 chances. The hands and the downfield usage are real. What is missing is volume, and Olave plus Juwan Johnson took 47% of the 2025 targets between them, so the food chain is crowded. Our preseason number, 42 points over the 10 games we expected, was built on a narrow path that has not widened.
The real cost is availability. We expected 10 games with a range of 3 to 16 once injury risk was counted, and that is what pulls the low tail to 8 points, injuries doing the pulling. He has played all five weeks so far with no designation, which is to his credit, but the bye in week 8 of 2026 is next. Our call: hold him only if your league is deep enough to stash a fourth-round rookie for a month, and cut him everywhere else unless a target share jump shows up after the bye.
