Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
One catch, one yard, one touchdown in five games. That is the whole 2026 season for Jahdae Walker, and it started with a 7.1-point week 1 before four straight zeros through week 5 of 2026. Two targets in five games is not a small role, it is no role. He sits fifth among Chicago receivers, behind Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, Kalif Raymond and Zavion Thomas, and even Odunze and Colston Loveland alone combined for 40% of the targets on this team last season.
Our preseason number was 30 points, built on 12 expected games at 2.5 a game, and that case always leaned hard on the end zone. Nearly 45% of his scoring came from touchdowns, and that profile has cost players in his spot about 2 points a game the next season on average. Add a crowded target room that has cost about 0.9 a game in his spot, and the arithmetic was thin before a snap was played. Last year he cleared the position's weekly median in just 3 of 6 games and never once cleared 15 points, with 11.6 in week 18 of 2025 standing as his best. His snap share sat at 14.5%, WR189 among 239 qualifying receivers.
He has stayed healthy, which is something, and Ben Johnson still runs the offense after continuing from last season. Drafters left him without an ADP before the season, and 8 healthy weeks went by in 2025 without him playing. But the bye comes in week 10 of 2026, and the schedule through week 5 gave no sign of a turn. Unless targets arrive soon, this is a drop in anything but the deepest rosters.
