Our read
Written Sep 8, from his facts through last season
The stat that decides this one is the record: 1 game played in three seasons, and none of those misses were injury. He was a healthy scratch in 2023 and 2025 outright, and 2024 ended with one week 18 snap count. Chicago is his third look and Ben Johnson calls the plays himself, so there is a coaching door open that CLE never gave him. The injury report checked on September 9 carried no designation, so the low availability number is not a training-room issue, it is just where he stands.
But the availability number is 2 expected games, with 0 to 6 realistic once injury risk is in, and our number has him at 3 points, middle range -1 to 7. That is a waiver-wire profile, not a draft pick. He's 28, undrafted out of the 2022 class, and no ADP on file means nobody is spending a pick on him anywhere. There are 6 players left in his tier before a 0.3-point cliff, so even the shallow end of this board gives you alternatives within a whisker of him.
The Chicago setup is the only argument for stashing. The offense ran 53% situation-neutral passes last year, won 11 games, and Vegas posted 9.5 wins for this one, so there are targets behind an actual receiver room. If Johnson's rotation opens a slot, he appears on the wire before he appears in a draft. My call: let him go in your draft, keep his name on the list for week 3, and only circle back if Chicago loses a receiver or the snaps show up. A roster spot is worth more than this upside in September.
