Our read
Written Oct 19, from his facts through last season
Zero targets in three games, then healthy scratches for weeks 4 and 5 of 2026. That is the whole run of his season so far, and it matches everything we knew about the role. He is listed fifth among Cleveland wideouts, behind Jerry Jeudy, KC Concepcion, Denzel Boston and Isaiah Bond, so the scratch weeks are not a mystery, they are the depth chart doing what depth charts do.
The 2025 base was thin to begin with: 15 points over 11 games, one week above the position median, a 2.4% target share that ranked WR188, and only 4 touches all year. His yards per target fell from 16.1 in 2024 to 5.6 in 2025, so even the deep-ball pop is gone. Harold Fannin Jr. and Jerry Jeudy took 21% and 20% of the targets on this team last year, which is where the ball actually goes. The one thing his usage did carry was scoring-range work, 25% of his own touches inside the red zone, but that is a 2-touch sample and it does not survive a new team and a fifth slot. Profiles like his, top-heavy on touchdowns, have cost players in his spot about 2 points a game the next season, and a crowded room has shaved another 0.9.
Monken and Switzer are new to this offense, which means no carryover role for a fifth receiver, and the bye is still ahead in week 11 of 2026. Our preseason call was 37 points for the year, most of that range between 20 and 53, and none of it needs him to be on a roster. If a leaguemate is carrying him, the spot is better spent on a live body.
