Our read
Written Oct 19, from his facts through last season
Five missed weeks to start 2026, weeks 1 through 5, and the O designation has been there since before week 1 of 2026. That alone decides this page right now. Our preseason number was 42 points over the 12 games we expected him to play, a 3.5 points a game pace, and even that modest plan assumed he would see the field. He has not.
The deeper problem is that even when he was available, he was barely used. Eight games in 2025, 2.5 points a game, one week above 8 points all season, and he cleared 15 points in none of his eight played weeks, with a zero in week 6 of 2025. His target share fell from 8.1% in 2024 to 3.6% last year, and Olave and Juwan Johnson combined took 47% of the New Orleans targets. He sits sixth among their receivers, behind Olave, Vele, Lance and Brown, with no recent headlines suggesting that changes. Players in his position have lost 0.9 points a game on average from one season to the next, and that fits his trajectory. He saw 2 red-zone touches all of 2025 and none inside the ten, so the scoring path was never there either.
For a manager holding him now, the move is letting him go and using the spot on anyone who can actually play this month. He sits in a tier with four players ahead of him before a 2.5-point cliff, and the tier is deep. If his role ever changes, revisit then. Until then, he is a week 8 of 2026 bye away from zero value.
