Our read
Written Sep 8, from his facts through last season
Start with the games, because that is the whole case. We expect Malik McClain to play about 1 game this season, with a realistic range of 0 to 2 once injury risk is in. You cannot win a week, let alone a league, on 1 game from a receiver, and everything else on his page follows from that. Our number is 1 point for the season, most outcomes land between -1 and 3, and that is not a projection of a contributor. It is a projection of a name on a roster.
He is a rookie who went undrafted out of the 2026 class, and there is no ADP on file for him, so no one in any league is spending a pick. The Jets context does him no favors either. They posted a 5.5 win total, ran the ball-heavy look last year at 44% situation-neutral passes under Tanner Engstrand, and won 3 games. There is no path here where a coaching staff fighting for its footing gives an undrafted rookie real run while chasing survival.
On the depth chart he sits at WR253 on our board, and the tier under him holds 13 players before a 0.1-point drop, so the difference between him and the next guy is essentially nothing. If you are in a very deep league with a taxi squad or an extra bench spot, he is a reasonable last-pick flier purely because a roster spot at that stage costs you nothing. In a standard league, take a kicker's upside instead. I am passing on him at any point in the draft.
