Our read
Written Oct 19, from his facts through last season
Three games, 2.0 points a game, and 31 receiving yards on four targets. That is the 2026 season to date, and weeks 1 and 3 of 2026 were missed on top of it. He carries an O designation going into week 6 of 2026, so even the tiny sample is not fully his fault, but nothing in it argues for patience.
The role is the issue and it has not changed. He is listed fifth among LA receivers behind Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield. In 2025 Nacua and Adams took 55% of the targets between them, and Atwell's own target share fell from 11.5% in 2024 to 4.0% in 2025 while his points a game slid from 6.59 to 3.9. Last season he cleared 15 points in just one of his eight weeks, week 4 of 2025, and bottomed out at zero in week 2. Inside the scoring range he got one red-zone touch all year and never touched the ball inside the ten. Players in his spot have dropped 0.9 points a game from one season to the next on average. The one genuine skill, a 20.1-yard average depth of target that ranked WR7 among 223, only matters if someone throws him the ball deep, and the snaps are not there.
Our preseason number had him at 45 points, our pace 3.5 a game over 13 expected games, and he is running well under that even before the missed weeks. His bye in week 11 of 2026 is still ahead, but there is no stretch on this schedule worth stashing through. He is worth releasing for the next healthy receiver on your wire.
