Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Five games, zero targets. Not quiet weeks, a blank column, and the 36 points we set for him before the season are gone unless something changes that nothing on the roster suggests will change. He has been active every week, so this is not an availability question, it is a question of whether anyone in Cleveland plans to throw him the ball.
The role behind the zero was already grim. He ran 24.2% of the snaps and caught a 3.8% target share in 2025, both bottom-third among qualifying receivers, and he touched the ball 24 times all year. Harold Fannin Jr. and Jerry Jeudy ate 42% of the targets between them. Sixth on the depth chart behind Jeudy, KC Concepcion, Denzel Boston and Isaiah Bond, with a new play caller in Travis Switzer who has shown no reason to reach past that group.
Even the one number that looked like a talent signal comes with a catch. His yards per target jumped from 7 in 2024 to 14.7 in 2025, but on an average depth of target of minus 0.5 yards, last among 223 qualifying receivers, that reads as a gadget role, not a growing one.
The numbers around him point the same way. Averages across receivers in his spot, not his line: a crowded target room has come with a dip of 0.9 points a game the next season, and 5.5 expected team wins with a dip of 0.8. He never cleared 15 points in any of his 12 weeks in 2025, and the new staff has not moved him up the pecking order. Release him and use the spot on a receiver who is actually on the field for plays.
